A question I see / hear frequently, is where is the best place to start learning about Intelligent Agents? This question is harder to answer than you might expect, for several reasons, some of which include:
The speed at which Intelligent Agents are maturing
The size and complexity of the Intelligent Agent ecosystem
Determining what you are looking to learn (using, programming, architecting, etc.)
But Intelligent Agents aren’t just another “bolt-on” technology. Intelligent Agents are a disruptive technology that WILL change the way technology solutions are developed. As this change is significant, it is unlikely that those NEW to the space are going to have the vision/insight as to what that future might look like.
And with that realization, I now recommend that the first step in ANYONE’s Intelligent Agent education journey is to start with USE CASES! Now historically, getting companies to share their progress on new technologies has been a bit of a treasure hunt (I assume for competitive reasons). But in the following hotlink - Google has documented 321 real-world gen AI use cases from the world's leading organizations!!
Things I think are useful to take away from this article:
There are a LOT of companies experimenting with Intelligent Agents.
There is a wide range of Intelligent Agent capabilities being developed.
What Intelligent Agent capabilities are evolving that may impact what YOU do for a living (both positively and negatively)
Awareness of how your company (or a competitor) is using Intelligent Agents
Intelligent Agent interview fodder for a company you may be interviewing with.
And a better understanding of Intelligent Agent topics that you can learn more about
From my perspective - developing the starting vision of what Intelligent Agent can do will be a huge benefit - as it will provide a solid foundation you can build on.
And yes, I do have some ideas for “Education - Part 2” so subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss it ;)
